Summary

Description
English: Large gourd calabash holds a quantity of dried purple hibiscus leaves for the popular beverage, 'bissap' (also spelled as bisap). Leaves are boiled, then strained out, leaving the distinctive dark purple tisane. Very tart, so sugar and flavorings such as vanilla are added to taste for the basic recipe, additional flavors vary with household recipes.
